Koala Sensory helps Israeli families with children with autism find strategic and innovative solutions for morning dressing routines, by eliminating discomfort caused by stiff fabrics, stitches, buttons, and zippers.  Their shirts provide comfort and positive visual stimulation.

Our holistic approach was to craft a 360º brand strategy aligned with the business goals, followed by a well-defined go-to-market plan. The startup's ambition was to achieve profitability while catering to the specific needs of parents with kids with autism during their morning routines.

Leveraging the
unique challenge

The Challenge

The kids experience a range of problems with varying degrees of complexity, and a common problem that repeatedly came up in conversations with the parent community was clothing.

Parents found that they were spending a huge amount of time trying to dress their special children in clothes the children hated (read: found uncomfortable). The challenge was to eliminate uncomfortable clothing and provide clothing the children liked so that each morning dressing’s routine became a pleasant experience.

Passion-led innovation and results

The entrepreneurs Hagit and Oz have their own child with special needs and therefore understood the needs of children who experience the world differently than most of their peers. They created an apparel line of adaptive
t-shirts for the 4-12 age range that that minimize sensory disturbances and are front-back reversible.

Noop’s team provided the competitive market research, studied and contributed solutions to the company’s business, production and distribution plans, and created the brand strategy and applications that enabled the company to expand sales from the local to the international market.

Noop connected Koala Sensory to USA based companies and nonprofits in the same category to expand their business internationally.

The shirts were designed to be front-back reversible to maximize positive visual stimulation.

The design and colors were meant to deliberately encourage children’s choices - kids are more likely to wear clothes they like. We also strategically planed the future product line evolution towards soft room furnishings.

We assisted our client to considerably reduce production costs. The fashion design considered preventing overstimulation by limiting the number of colors and using them in different combinations.

Insights and unique positioning

With the increase in the number of people diagnosed with autism in Israel it became essential engage in effective local market research. The resulting insights helped identify the best approach and indicated what innovative solutions should be implemented.
